Delhi Daredevils beat Chennai Super Kings by 9 runs in a high scoring encounter. Batting first the Delhi Daredevils notched up 189 even after losing Gambhir and Sehwag early! The man of the hour was AB de Villiers who smashed the first century of IPL 2009. His hundred came of a mere 50 balls and 

Chasing a score of 190 to win, the Chennai Super Kings were right on track because of an awesome start provided by Hayden. At one stage they needed less than 8 runs per over to win the match but some excellent bowling in the death by the 3 left handed seamers (Sangwan, Nannes, Nehra) along with the guile of Vettori topped with some reckless batting by the Chennai Super Kings saw the Delhi Daredevils clinch the match by 9 runs.
